A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHIEF
Greetings from the men and women of the Irwindale Police Department and welcome to our website. It is my hope that you will learn about our department, our members, our activities, and the variety of public services we are entrusted to deliver.
All our employees recognize and appreciate the responsibility of serving our community, knowing at all times that we are the caretakers of the most delicate, important element in our society--the public trust. We know our community looks to us to provide the most professional and dependable police services possible, among them protecting people and property, arresting law-breakers, and doing all we can to ensure justice.
At the Irwindale Police Department, we are honored to provide for the public safety. We are thankful for the help, cooperation and support that we receive every day from our community, our City Council, and our fellow employees.

ABOUT CHIEF HOFFORD
Police Chief Christopher P. Hofford, MPA, FBINA, joined the Irwindale Police Department team on March 27, 2023. Coming to the Irwindale Police Department with over 35 years of law enforcement service in Los Angeles County, Chief Hofford has held every rank from part-time Police Cadet up to Police Chief over his tenured career.
Chief Hofford holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Arkansas State University and is a graduate of the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy (FBINA), the California Police Chiefs' Association (CPCA) Executive Leadership Institute and the California Police Chiefs' Association Executive Development Program.
Chief Hofford is the proud father of three young adult daughters and is engaged to marry his fiancée later this year. He enjoys mountain biking and off-roading in his spare time.
