Irwindale, CA: On Monday, June 22, 2020 at about 3:30 a.m., Irwindale police officers responded to the report of a gunshot victim in the emergency room at a local hospital. On arrival, officers contacted an adult male victim who was being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his face/cheek.
The victim told the officers he was walking east bound in the 3000 block of Huntington Drive, approximately ½ mile west of Irwindale Avenue, in the vicinity of the San Gabriel River Wash bridge in the city of Irwindale at about 2:30 a.m. when a dark colored 4-door sedan traveling east on Huntington Drive stopped next to the victim. A male adult got out of the vehicle and grabbed the victim from behind, trying to remove his backpack. The victim and the suspect struggled over the backpack and they both fell on the ground. The victim got back up, still struggling with the suspect over the backpack.
At that point, the driver of the vehicle, also a male adult, pointed a black revolver out of the passenger window and fired one gunshot at the victim, striking him in the face/cheek. The victim then let go of the backpack and both suspects fled with the backpack in the vehicle going east on Huntington Drive onto Foothill Blvd and out of sight.
The victim was treated for his injuries and was later released.
Both suspects were described as black males in their mid-20’s, both wearing dark clothing. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a black 4-door sedan.
