Irwindale, California - On Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at about 7:57 pm, Irwindale police officers were sent to a home in the 4000 block of Calle Del Sur in the city of Irwindale regarding a residential burglary in progress.
While the officers were en route to the scene, the homeowner reported to the 9-1-1 dispatcher that a subject had ripped through the screen on a backyard window in order to gain access into the residence. The homeowner stated that the subject had now fled the backyard and was last seen going towards Calle Breceda. The homeowner and other witnesses provided a detailed a description of the suspect.
On arrival, our officers checked the surrounding area and located a subject matching the description provided by the caller and the witnesses in the area in the area of Ellen Drive and Benbow Street in the unincorporated portion of Covina. Officers detained the subject at the scene without incident. He was positively identified as the burglary suspect by the victim and the witnesses.
The suspect, Sergio Arturo Ravelo, a 38 year old resident of West Covina, was arrested for burglary to an inhabited dwelling. He was also found to have an active warrant for his arrest from the West Covina Police Department for resisting arrest. He was booked at the West Covina Jail on both charges, where he is currently being held on $60,000.00 bail.
