CITY OF IRWINDALE RECEIVES GOLD ENERGY AWARD
(Irwindale, CA, January 28, 2021) – During the January 27, 2021 public meeting, the City Council was presented with a Gold Level Energy Leader Award by the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG). The Gold Level is the highest tier of three levels in the recognition program.
In partnership with the Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCAlREN) and SoCalGas, the SGVCOG recognizes San Gabriel Valley agencies’ efforts for increasing energy efficiency in municipal facilities and communities through the San Gabriel Valley Energy Champion Awards. Agencies must engage in specific energy efficiency actions in order to receive recognition in the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Tiers.
Alexander Fung of SGVCOG who dialed in to present the award said “We really want to take this time to applaud the City Council’s commitments to lead our region by example through addressing energy efficiency first in their facilities. We also want to sincerely thank the city manager and his [public works services] staff for engaging with our partnership in the midst of the pandemic and leading the effort to implement these energy efficient actions.”
Robert Cruz, representative of SoCalGas added, “We congratulate your efforts to be more energy efficient in these tough times. We value the partnership between the San Gabriel Valley Cog, SoCalGas and the City of Irwindale.”
Mayor Manuel H. Ortiz noted Irwindale’s commitment to its efforts in increasing energy efficiency in the community and the value of these partnerships.
