MEDIA RELEASE ~ August 20th Checkpoint Results in Arrests and Citations

 Irwindale, Calif. – Two (2) people were arrested, thirty-two (32) people were issued citations and seven (7) vehicles were towed while conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, August 20, 2021.

 The checkpoint was held on Ramona Blvd. at Durbin Street in the city of Irwindale from 6:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

 Thirty-two (32) drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 2,200 vehicles were contacted. Two (2) persons were arrested for criminal charges, including one (1) person for DUI and one (1) person for an active arrest warrant. 

 Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.

 The Irwindale Police Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling.
