MEDIA RELEASE ~ Traffic Collision Involving Foothill Transit Bus Results in Minor Injuries

Irwindale, CA:  On Thursday, November 4, 2021, at about 12:40 P.M., officers from the Irwindale Police Department responded along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department to the area of Avenida Barbosa, north of Arrow Highway, in the city of Irwindale regarding the report of an injury traffic collision involving a Foothill Transit bus and a street sweeping truck.

On arrival, our officers discovered that a Foothill Transit bus was traveling northbound on Avenida Barbosa, north of Arrow Highway, when a collision occurred between the bus and the street sweeping truck, which was also traveling northbound on Avenida Barbosa.  The Foothill Transit bus was occupied by the driver and only one passenger at the time of the collision.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived and treated both of the drivers, as well as the bus passenger, for minor injuries.  All of the injured parties were taken to local hospitals by ambulance.

The northbound lanes of Avenida Barbosa between Arrow Highway and Buena Vista Street were closed for approximately 90 minutes during the traffic collision investigation.

Representatives from Foothill Transit and from the company operating the street sweeping truck responded to the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The cause of this traffic collision remains under investigation, however it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
