Beginning Thursday, February 3rd, Burlington Northern Santa Fe trains will resume freight train service through the SGV for the first time in more than a year, with trains running through the cities of Irwindale, Azusa, Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne and Pomona
Freight train service through the 6-city corridor was halted in 2020 due to construction of the Glendora-to-Pomona extension of the LA Metro’s L-Line. This work has resulted in new freight line track beds, as well as new grade crossing gates, signals, etc. along the route.
Trains of all sorts are a common sight in Irwindale, but this is a great time to remind everyone in these communities to be aware that freight trains are coming through once again and follow all the safety rules around an active rail line.
