Irwindale, Calif. – On Sunday, August 28th, one (1) person was arrested for DUI and 18 citations were issued at a DUI checkpoint conducted by the Irwindale Police Department.
The DUI checkpoint was held on Irwindale Avenue, south of Jardin de Roca, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Eighteen (18) drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed, driving with a suspended/revoked license or other vehicle code violations. A total of 1,574 vehicles were contacted. One (1) additional person was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Additional DUI checkpoint will be held in the city of Irwindale in the future and will be announced in advance via Media Release and on our social media sites.
