1. How do I make an anonymous crime tip to IPD?

The Irwindale Police Department participates in the Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers program. This program allows the community to submit anonymous crimes tips directly to law enforcement. Information leading to an arrest is eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00.

Communication and tips are made via encrypted chat using a code and password.  No personal information, phone number, e-mail, IP address, GPS or user location is ever requested, monitored, traced, tracked or saved.

2. I received a citation for a traffic violation. How much will it cost?

All traffic citations are handled by the court listed on the bottom of your citation. Please contact their traffic division for further information.

3. I received a fix-it citation for a correctable violation. Does the Police Department verify these citations?

The department will verify your citation if it is a correctable violation and has been checked "yes" on the citation. There if a $10 fee for this process for citations issued by the Irwindale Police Department and a $15 fee for citations issued by outside agencies.

4. How do I obtain the release of a vehicle impounded or stored by the police department?

5. When will my report be ready?

Please allow approximately five to seven business days for your report to be ready.

6. How can I obtain a copy of a report?

You may obtain a copy of a report in person at the Police Department. You may also request a copy through the mail by including a self-addressed, stamped envelope, a copy of your drivers license or other form of identification, along with a check for the exact amount.

7. How much does it cost for a copy of a report?

Reports are $0.25 per page. Most reports range from two (2) to seven (7) pages in length.

8. What court does the City of Irwindale utilize?

Most matters, including traffic citations and most criminal matters, are handled through the West Covina Courthouse, located at:

9. What are the Records Department hours?

The department is available Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

10. How do I retrieve property that is being held by the police?

Property release is done by appointment only, typically Tuesday through Fridays between the hours of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. To make an appointment to retrieve property, please call the Property Technician at (626) 430-2237.
