Measure "IR"
4-
Measure "IR"
On August 7, 2024, the Irwindale City Council unanimously placed the Irwindale General Services Measure on the ballot for voter consideration. Irwindale voters will also have the opportunity to elect three councilmembers.
-
Measure "IR"
If enacted, the Measure would be a ¼ cent sales tax that would replace the rate the County is currently collecting on purchases in Irwindale (through current County Measure H). The proposed measure would only be enacted if the County’s Measure H sales tax is repealed or expires. Therefore, if this City Measure is passed, when the County Measure is repealed or expires, the City would directly receive the ¼ cent sales tax revenue on purchases in Irwindale to be used only for City services.
-
Measure "IR"
For years, Los Angeles County has been taking millions of sales tax dollars from Irwindale residents while the City itself receives fractions in return. The City of Irwindale seeks to maintain local control over local taxpayer dollars so these funds can be spent to maintain local services for our community, and to enable the City to be prepared in uncertain times. If enacted, the full ¼ cent sales tax from the measure would be legally required to be spent on the services that benefit Irwindale residents. No funds could be taken by the County or State.
-
Measure "IR"
If enacted, the “Irwindale General Services Measure” could provide additional local funding for community identified City service priorities such as maintaining local control over taxpayer dollars, continuing police enforcement programs and, supporting emergency and disaster response, addressing homelessness, maintaining senior citizen, parks, transportation, recreation, aquatics, and library services, preserving city services and long-term finances, and repairing streets and potholes and improving public facilities.
